As it does so since the opening of their hotels, the RH chain conducts daily measures to maintain the hygiene of the rooms, common areas and workspaces, contributing effectively to prevent the spread of any symptoms of a virus, including the influenza A (H1N1), known as swine flu.
- The staff of the RH chain is regularly trained in hygiene, preventive, operational and first aid measures.
- The RH chain has hygiene elements (soap and disposable towels) in each sector, both administrative and service areas (rooms, restaurant, lobby bar, etc.).
- Air and ventilation Filters for accommodation areas, common areas and personnel (locker rooms, kitchen, administrative and commercial offices) are replaced periodically, as indicated by the quality standards.
- The housekeeping staff uses gloves to clean the rooms and common areas.
- Bed linen, towels, tablecloths and napkins are transported in closed bags to the hotel laundry.
- The entire kitchen staff uses caps and chinstraps. The facilities and cookware are washed and disinfected daily.
- Eating and drinking utensils are washed in automatic washing machines with water and soap.
The best way to prevent the spread of such diseases is prevention, through simple and effective measures: the seasonal flu virus and other acute infections of the upper airways, such as the influenza A (H1N1 ), are transmitted by infected saliva droplets that travel through the air when a person coughs, sneezes and even speaks. So, it is recommended:
-
Maximize measures of health and personal care (balanced food, sleep, exercise, do a medical checkup regularly);
-
maximize hygiene measures of shared spaces and elements in use (desktops, telephones, utensils, bathrooms);
-
ventilating and air spaces;
-
cover your nose and mouth with disposable tissue when coughing or sneezing, try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth directly, since this is how germs are spread;
-
throw away disposable tissues and waste without touching them directly and then wash your hands;
-
constantly wash your hands with soap and water, disposable or personal towels (do not share with others), use disinfectants with alcohol to finish.
What should I do if I think I have the A flu (H1N1)?
If you feel sick, have high fever, cough or sore throat:
-
Stay home and, as far as possible not go to work, school or busy places.
-
Rest and drink plenty of fluids.
-
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw away your used tissues in an appropriate site.
-
Wash your hands with soap and water frequently and meticulously, especially after coughing or sneezing.
-
Tell your family and friends you are ill and ask for help for domestic tasks that require contact with other people, such as shopping.
If you need medical care:
-
Contact your doctor or other healthcare professional before traveling, and tell them your symptoms. Explain why you think you have the A flu (H1N1) -for example, if you have recently visited a country affected by an outbreak of human influenza A (H1N1)- and follow their advice.
-
If you are unable to contact your health care provider beforehand, make the clinic know about your suspicion of having swine flu.
-
Be aware to cover your mouth and nose during trips.
