Rochester Hotels Weblog / San Telmo: a tour not to miss

San Telmo is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. It was where the wealthy families of Buenos Aires used to live in 1871 until they were forced to move due to the strong yellow fever epidemic that was hitting the city at that time.

Today it is one of the most outstanding and popular spots in the city. It has colonial houses, cobbled streets, antique shops, traditional tearooms and places where you can hear or dance tango and jazz. A neighborhood that willl make you travel back in time. A tour that you must do when coming to Buenos Aires.

In addition, we find several attractive sites to visit in San Telmo, such as:

  • The Antiques Fair of Plaza Dorrego, on Sundays from 10.00hs to 17.00hs.
  • Modern Art Museum
  • Cinema Museum
  • Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity
  • Lezama Park

Rochester Hotel considers San Telmo an unusual neighborhood which offers many activities and places to go. It is indeed worth visiting this historic area of Buenos Aires.
