FORTABAT MUSEUM

The Fortabat Museum is one of the most important tourist attractions of our city and it is home to Amalia’s Fortabat private art collection. It was built on the north area of Dike 4 and it is open to the public. The art collection comprises argentine art ranging from the 19th century to now. The museum exhibits include more than 200 art pieces of artists from different countries, styles and years as well as objects from ancient Greece and ancient Egypt. Some of the renowned painters, between some many others, present in the museum are: Marc Chagall, Auguste Rodin, Pier-Auguste Renoir, Paul gauguin, Joan Miró, Juan Manuel Blanes, Edgar Degas, Pieter Brueghel, Salvador Dalí, Antonio Berni, Carlos Alonso, Xul Solar, Fernando Fader, Emilio Pettoruti, Leopoldo Presas, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Pérez Celis, Raúl Soldi and Lino Enea Spilimbergo.
Amalia’s Fortabat famous portrait, by Andy Warhol, is also found at the museum.

BAFICI 2012

BAFICI (The Buenos Aires International Independent films festival) began in 1999 and is nowadays one of the most important and renowned film festivals of the world. BAFICI has conquered a privileged place in the international cinematographic agenda.BAFICI´s wide movie planning includes worldwide premieres, in dynamic and cultural scenery, gathering acclaimed film directors and new talents. The festival will be held from April 11th to April 22nd under the motto “Buenos Aires breathes cinema”. As part of the festival, the Buenos Aires City Planetarium and two new cinemas located at the basement of the Centro Cultural San Martin were inaugurated, featuring the best digital systems. BAFICI will also be presenting movies at Hoyts Abasto, Malba Cine, Parque Centenario, Cosmos-UBA, Teatro 25 de Mayo, Arteplex Belgrano, Fundación Proa and Alianza Francesa.  

Ticket sales will begin on April 3rd at Hoyts Abasto, La Casa de la Cultura (Avenida de Mayo 575) and also online.Tickets cost AR$15; special price for students and retired AR$13)

Winter Holidays at MALBA

From Saturday July 17th to Sunday August 1st, Malba (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires – Latin-American Art Museum of Buenos Aires) will offer a special program full of activities ranging from music shows (fairy tales which are sung), lively guided tours in the Museum and movie workshops to “MALBA.DISEÑO” which will exhibit handmade rag dolls created by the most renowned plastic artists. 

Children and their families having a good time is the main aim of this program, which also focuses on stimulating kids’ creativity through art.
