Tribute to the great Carlos GardelPost June 23, 2009 - Classified Entertainments, Knowing Buenos Aires, Rochester Today I am going to tell you about a man known as the ”Zorzal Criollo”. Who can I be referring to, if it is not Carlos Gardel? The synonym of tango itself. Excuse me for my fanaticism but the Zorzal has left his mark on generations and generations of “porteños” … Since that time his image and his voice are an absolute reference when talking about this argentine passion called tango. As I told you in my first “post” (little by little I am getting use to modern expressions), I perfectly remember how my father cried the day of the accident of Carlitos … We learned about the accident through the radio … it were other times, without television, much less Internet or blogs. For all this tomorrow, June 24th, at 18:30 pm, a tribute will be carried out at the Carlos Gardel House Museum (located at Jean Jaurés 735, where the Zorzal used to live) as it has been 74 years from his physical disappearance. The show will be in charge of the singers Esteban Riera and Horacio Molina, but beside the concert, the great journalist and cartoonist Hermenegildo Sabat will present a work that will be the graphic image of the future Friends Association of the Museum Carlos Gardel. Of course, there I will be, on time and before time for a better location. Buenos Aires can be enjoyed in many ways, but doing it remembering one of its greatest characters, in the Abasto neighborhood, has a something very special. Shall we meet at the Hotel lobby and go together?
