Public building located in front of Plaza de Mayo. It was the place where the authorities of the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata met and until 1822 it was the headquarter of the political, cultural and econimic administration of Spain.

The Cabildo (Town Council) was declared National Monument on May31, 1933. In it we find the Cabildo and May Revolution Museum where we can see:

  • portraits, objects and jewellery of the eighteenth century.
  • the press installed by Juan José de Vértiz
  • the Oruro sheet that was given to the Town Council after the victory against the english in 1807.
  • a cistern that belonged to Manuel Belgrano, creator of the national flag.

An emblematic building, witness of great events of the argentine history. A place that Rochester Hotel believes is important for you to include in your list of things to do in Buenos Aires.
