Open air museum with sculptures, reliefs and murals in stone, cement and ceramic of popular taste with the natural and great colorful houses of La Boca.

Opened in 2003, it was the home of Carlos Gardel and his mother. Shows the universe in which Gardel grew.

It is the only one that exhibits Spanish art in Argentina. It was the home of Enrique Larreta, a modernist writer (1873-1961). Init we can appreciate valuable carvings, paintings, furniture, ceramics and other objects of the XIII century. The building is surrounded by an Andalusian garden of 7000 square meters.

It displays the largest public collection of South American colonial silverwork in Latin America, which includes religious and civil works. It also displays a gallery about the eighteenth century until the independence times.

One of the newest museums in town, with 228 works from the Costantini Collection. It displays works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera at Tarsilia do Amaral, Wilfredo Lam and the main Argentine artists. It also conducts exhibitions, films and lectures.

With over 8000 items including especially historical and contemporary handicrafts, representing the folk traditions and Aboriginal communities of Argentina. Also has copies of pottery, leather, fiber, wood, horn and bone, squash, and imagery, masks, tissues.

Heritage of more than 4,200 pieces, specializing on Argentine art. Collection of paintings, prints, drawings and tapestries. It displays works of Lino Enea Spilimbergo, Carlos Morel, Libero Badii, Antonio Berni, Emilio Pettoruti, among others and has an enclosed courtyard with sculptures and a vast library.

Museum of Fine Arts, Boca Quinquela Martin. Av Pedro de Mendoza 1835, La Boca. 4301 1080. Hours: Tue. to Sun 11 to 17.30hs. Entry: Bonus contribution of $ 3 and $ 5.
Heritage of more than 1,000 pieces, paintings, sculptures and prints on display at the house donated by Quinquela Martín, in front of the Riachuelo, at Vuelta de Rocha. In one of its rooms you can  see sterns of small ships, steamships and famous great ships.

Museum of Comparative Sculpture and Copies Ernesto de La Cárcova. Tristan Rodriguez Av Achával 1701, La Boca. 4361 4419. Hours: Mon. to Fri. 10 to 15hs. Sat. 10 to 17hs. Admission: $ 2
Copies of representative works from the Sumerian culture to the Renaissance. It is a very prestigious museum as most of the copies have been obtained with a direct mold of the original.

In the mid-twentieth Century some of the remains of the Fort and the new Duty built in 1855 were discovered. On 1957 the Museum was opened, inside the compound of the Government House, with collections of bands and presidential sticks, suits, uniforms, documents, furniture and carriages, among other pieces, that belonged to different Presidents of the Republic.

Created in 1968. Collections include photographs, architectural elements, furniture, maps, postcards, magazines, even the most diverse objects of everyday life. What this museum tries to show is the culture of the inhabitants of Buenos Aires over time.

The Museum's aim is to: tell the history of Boca, the history of our football team, the identity of the neighborhood and the popular culture of the Argentine people. It was the first interactive theme museum in Argentina, and the first to include advanced techniques for display, lighting, scenic effects and audio-visual shows.

It tells the life of the jewish people in Argentina and Europe during the Second World War. It exhibits a collection of photographs of German Heinz Jost in 1941 at the Warsaw ghetto.

Museum of Ancient Site of the National Congress. Balcarce 139, Montserrat. 4343 4416 / / 4331 4633 / 5147. Hours: Thurs. 15 to 17 hours. Admission: Free. Guided tours: Thursdays from 15 to 17.
Museum of the Academy of History, by it we are able to appreciate the Old Site of the National Congress, which operated between 1884 and 1905. Building of Italian architecture.

Vintage, classic, sport and competition cars, antiques and objects that were part of Buenos Aires in the early twentieth century. It also reproduces shops, service stations YPF and ACA of old times. Oscar Galvez, famous driver, has a room dedicated to him in this museum.

Cars are on display are from the nineteenth and early twentieth century, they are in excellent conditions. You can also see sports cars, used by the greatest athletes of our country.

Historic Heritage Museum - Palacio de Aguas Corrientes.Riobamba 750 Piso 1, Balvanera. 6319 1104. Hours: Mon Fri. 9 to 13. Admission: free. Guided tours: Mon., Wed. and fri. 11 pm.
It exhibits sanitary artifacts and plumbing parts used since the beginning of the century in the houses of Buenos Aires. It tells the health story of the city and shows some plans of the first facilities that were approved. This building is one of the most beautiful in Buenos Aires, its architecture is simply extraordinary. Its large water deposits supplied the City for more than half a century with its 72 million liters of water.

Account of the life and work of one of the pioneers of Argentina's history. A woman of great vitality, which marked the history of our country forever. Inside the museum there is a patio, a restaurant and a bar.

Its collection includes silverware, jewelry, furniture, documents, iconography, weapons, clothing. Accounts and describes political, social, economic and cultural ideologies of this city throughout the nineteenth century. A city that has been the capital of a Viceroyalty, a province and a nation. Located in what used to be the house of Luis María Saavedra in 1870.

Here you can appreciate the causes and consequences of important social and political changes of the twentieth century, as it was the adoption of the Universal Suffrage Act in 1912.

The heritage of the museum are objects, documents and the library of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, which was donated by his grandchildren. Opened in 1938, after fifty years since the death of this national hero. Built by Juan A. Buschiazzo.

Jewish Museum of Buenos Aires Dr. Salvador Kibrick.Libertad 769, San Nicolás. 4123 0101/03. Hours: Tue and Thu. 15 to 17.30. Admission: $ 5 Bonus contribution.
Dedicated to the collection, research, teaching and dissemination of Jewish identity in a non-religious, nor political, sectorial or dogmatic way. It belongs to the Israelite Congregation of the Argentine Republic. It has an art gallery and a library.

It shows the collection of Leonardo Da Vinci, printed by Carlo Giusseppe Gerli. Located in the Palace of Anchor.

World Tango Museum.Av Rivadavia 830, Montserrat. 4345 6967.
In it we learn the history of tango, since 1850 until today. It has a stock of CDs, tango objects, photos of important dancers like Annemarie Heinrich. Today it is the headquarters of the National Academy of Tango located in the Carlos Gardel Palace.

It inculdes works of renowned artists, such as: El Greco, Fragonard, Corot, Manet, Boudin and Fantin Latour. Each room is decorated in a style based on different European periods: Renaissance Hall, the dining-room of Louis XIV, Ballroom of the Regency, Louis XVI Room and the desktop. Located in the mansion which used to be of the Errázuriz Alvear family.

Shows the evolution of the costume throughout history. The different ways of dressing. For example, it shows the style of Christian Dior in the 50s.

Tries to show the great phenomenon of immigration produced in Argentina. Between 1911 and 1953, it was the place that provided services and care to immigrants.

It tells the story of the theater in our country since colonial times to the present, through photographs, historical documents, costumes and personal objects of actors, actresses, directors and authors, manuscripts, sketches, stage sets, and theatrical programs. The Trinidad Guevara room, organizes book presentations, storytellings and recreational activities.

A museum where you feel part of it, you can touch and investigate the different objects. Rooms with electricity and magnetism, mechanics, visual perception, Know your body, Telecommunications,  Journal Editors. It is a recreational activity and can lead to participatory learning and learn by playing.



Buenos Aires has more than 26 libraries in the city. The Library Association of the city is free and it  lends books to take home, as well as, magazines and journals for the reading room. It is also responsible for advising those who need help in their search for books and authors. In addition, it organizes other activities such as going to theater, music, film, lectures and reading clubs. Finally, Buenos Aires has a House of Poetry and Children's Annex 8.

The most important and recognized  are the Proa Foundation, the Recoleta Cultural Center and the Palais de Glace, also headquarter of the National Hall. These galleries can be found in the neighborhoods of Retiro, Barrio Norte, dowtown and Recoleta. In the neighborhoods of Palermo and San Telmo contemporary art galleries opened in the recent years, .
